Tohteru has been making sweets for over 100 years, consistently following our tradition. We provide seasonal sweets and congratulatory sweets for special occasions. Our main store is located at around Kawasaki-Shuku, which is on the historical Tokaido road. Some of the sweets we make are unique to this area.
We pay close attention to quality of our ingredients to maintain the highest level of food safety. Our sweet bean paste, called “Anko”, is made from red beans harvested in Hokkaido.
Our main store has a café, where you can enjoy our delicious sweets which vary according to the season. Our red-bean soup is popular and it is as sweet as it is tasty.
Our main store regularly runs hands-on sweet making sessions so that people can understand the culture and history of the sweets and feel familiar with them.
Japanese have a long tradition of sweet making. Tohteru will continue to honour the traditions of Japanese sweet making, and continue to create sweets sincerely made and from the heart.
